The quote on Jenny’s diary page today:

‘To get money you must spend it’  : Titus Maccius Plautus 254-184BC, Roman Playwright

Obviously no relation of Titus Arsolus or Mick Jagger

But first cousin to Speculus Accumulus and Jenny’s dear late mother

Wisdom indeed but us Wooffies don’t have to bother about all that.

We think Lynne wrote the poem? A great wordsmith, like her on Facebook – http://www.facebook.com/lynne.rawlings.75

Hi Jenny, John Jo and of course my beautiful friend Jess,We had a super holiday,
With all of you, you know,
In fact it was so lovely,

That we didn’t want to go!
The scrambled eggs were super,
They really did impress,
As did the tasty pancakes,
But not as much as Jess! She is your secret weapon,
Who worked her charms on me,
And for her licks and cuddles,
I’m as grateful as can be.
I’m missing her already,
But hopefully one day,
Us girls will all return again,
For yet another stay!Watch the post and take care,Lots of love,
Jenny, Anne and Lynne. xxxx

Jess says-

Well are you ready? I am. I’ve got my bed and blanket on the floor in front of  the TV ready to bark at anyone who stops Team GB winning loads of medals.

Wish I’d applied to G4S now as a security dog – I could have had a grandstand view. Well surely they must need small wooffies as well as big ones. I can get to places a big woof can’t.

Just had to listen to Jenny’s latest idea. She’s going to form a village Book Club. They’ll  read only one book this year because the review process will take so long. The first book is called Fifty Shades of Gray. Next year they’ll move on to the trilogy of Noddy and Big Ears.

Jess Ben and Chloe

Lands End here we come

Here’s me saying goodbye to Ben and Chloe this morning.  Thought I was going with them – got my lycra collar on ready! Ben is cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End. (1000 miles) in aid of St. Christopher’s Hospice near Crystal Palace, London. A Friend’s mother was cared for there last year before she died. The hospice needs £8 million a year to survive. Good luck Ben – it was our privelege to meet you and have you and Charlotte stay, and also to meet Chloe this morning as she joins you cycling today . Anyone can support Ben and the hospice via www.virginmoneygiving.com/BenGirling. Go on it’s a really good cause.

Wow – did they have a ball!. Well the humans did – I wasn’t there – I’ve got form for barking too much when horses are around. Anyway the humans in Symonds Yat, Ganarew and Whitchurch had a race night last Friday for fund raising purposes towards the Diamond Jubilee. It was evidently a great night and they raised over £2600. Great result. The Queen and the corgis would approve cos they like horse racing. Brilliant time was had by all with an amazing atmosphere and plenty to eat and drink as well as place your bets please! You can keep up to date with us on http://www.facebook.com/pages/Symonds-Yat-Whitchurch-Ganarew-Diamond-Jubilee-Celebrations/267498809984307

We had a super family staying with us this weekend. All 12 of them were so nice. I can’t help being the star of the show. The others helped to make the guests feel welcome of course in providing good service and half decent food but it’s my charm and cuteness that wins them over every time. You can see what I mean by the photo with Josie and Emilia. Jenny has to frisk people all the time because they all threaten to take me home.

Well shake my paw. What a turnip, I mean turn-up. First Steven Hester now Fred the Shred. Seems everybody’s got to work harder and get less. I’m going to have to pad carefully this year I think, otherwise I won’t get my boneUS  or any other rewards for that matter, and if anyone deserves them –  I do. I’ve made this place successful. I took over from the previous owner’s dogs. Useless they were. Overweight for a start – obviously been indulging themselves too much. Flipping Retrievers to boot – so too much hunting, fishing, and shooting and eating out with the jet set Red Setters. They didn’t lift a paw to get rid of the moles, squirrels and rabbits around here. Asleep on the job most of the time and, when not sleeping, just growling expecting others to mop up after them.  And they didn’t have my communication skills either. Just go and ask them what a blog is? Ha!

It’s all go here again. Got the plumbers in – re-vamping yet another ensuite. What do these humans do in them? Best not to ask sometimes.

It’ll look smart when it’s finished. I’m supervising to make sure it gets finished on time. It’s the Ross family suite and we’ve got a family staying  in it next week.
