Posts Tagged ‘the old railway track between Monmouth and Ross on Wye,’

I’ve  had a great week thanks to guests Alan and Anne. They took me out 3 times. One day I was out for nearly 5  hours!  We did some  good bits of the Wye Valley Walk near Whitchurch. Perhaps I should be advertised as one of the services of the house – walking the dog through the Wye Valley! Of course there are lots of walks to enjoy but on our first day  we began from Portland House at Whitchurch on foot and walked to the River Wye at Symonds Yat East (that’s jsut over 5 mins)  then along the river which is where the old rail track was between Monmouth adn Ross on Wyeand passed the Ferry Inn and then carrying on down to the swing bridge at the Biblins. Which we crossed over and then walked up the other side to Symonds Yat West where me and the humans partook of some liquid refreshment at the Saracen’s Head and watched the ferryman  take people and other dogs across the river  to walk back down to Whitchurch probably. Instead we walked up to the viewpoint at Symonds Yat Rock, a bit of a climb throught the woodland so you need to be fit enough to cope (otherwise go back home and get the car!). But the climb is worth it as this view point is spectacular, 600ft above sea level, and world famous for the peregrine falcons that nest in the rocks. After another liquid refreshment at the picnic area we left via the steep steps down to the footpath  and then joined up with the forestry track leading back down to the river and back over via the ferry to Whitchurch. It’s always easier going back down than climbing up!  I’ll talk about another walk next time.

We’ve got new guests arriving shortly. I always wonder what they’re going to be like. What’s more important I wonder if they’ll like me. I like making a fuss of people but Jenny and John don’t let me unless the guests ask to meet me. Because I’m tiny people think I’m a puppy so I do get lots of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ and ‘can I cuddle her’? I like cuddles but only really with my ‘mummy’.

I like it best when any children come to stay – I always have a lot of fun in the garden, playing ball with them like my video on Youtube.
